For NineTendo

April Nineteenth.

Uh oh.

A day with quite the history. From burning Davidians to federal buildings blowing up. I did a little search on Duck Duck Go and clicked on an old The Huffington Post article dated this day back in 2010. Here is what it listed as happening on this day in history.

In 1529 the Protstant Reformation began.

In 1775 the American Revolutionary War began (Shot heard ’round the world)

In 1936 the Great Uprising in Palestine began.

In 1943 the Warsaw ghetto uprising against German occupation forces began in Poland. (Occupy?)

In 1960 the South Korean students held a nation wide pro democracy protest.

In 1993 the Branch Davidians  holed up in a federal siege outside Waco, Texas are burned by federal forces of the ATF.

In 1995 the federal building in Oklahoma City is blown up by among others, Army special forces commando Timothy McVeigh.

………….   According to a site called “Day In History” I’d clicked on;

In 1971 the Vietnam Veterans Against the War began a five day demonstration in Washington DC.

………….  According to a site called “Brain History” I’d clicked on;

In 1941 Bulgarian troops invade Macedonia

In 1940 Dutch prime minister De Geer declares state of siege

In 1928 Japanese troops occupy Sjantung-schiereiland (It seems the occupy movement’s been going on a long long time)

In 1863 Union troops/fleet occupy Fort Huger, Virginia (See comment on item directly above)

In 1861 Baltimore riots-4 soldiers, 9 civilians killed

………….. According to “This Day In History . Com” I’d clicked on;

In 1689  Residents of Boston ousted their governor, Edmond Andros.

In 1927 Hankow communists declared war on Chaing Kai-shek in China, .

In 1933  US president Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation that removed the U.S. from the gold standard.(Declared war on wealth)

In 1981 Thirteen people were killed when members of the New People’s Army threw hand grenades into the Roman Catholic cathedral during Easter services in Davao, Philippines.

In 1989  In El Salvador, Attorney General Alvadora was killed by a car bomb.

………….. Last (and possibly least) From the site “Wikipedia” I’d clicked on;

In 1825 a group of exiled Uruguayan fighters called the 33 Orientals returned from Buenos Aires. They were led by Juan Antonio Lavelleja, who had fought with the exiled Artigas. The 33 Orientals secretly crossed the Plata River, landing on the Eastern Bank on April 19. There they planted what would be known as the flag of the 33 Orientals and took an oath to kick the Brazilian government out of Uruguay.

In 1985  The FBI siege on the compound of The Covenant, The Sword, and the Arm of the Lord (CSAL) in Arkansas.

That’s as far as I went. I’ll admit I picked out the events that fit together. It wasn’t a stretch however. Though I’ve seldom done this with any other day of the year (short of the lists in newspapers all the time) I think this day is a universal day of conflict. It leads me to wonder what we could have in store for today. I may even break my ignorance of the news streak (currently about two years running) and maybe look up today’s news for a change. It can’t be any worse than the history for today. I know blood is spilled every day. But this day seems to be when collective blood is spilled. So keep your eyes pealed and your head down. I’m not saying hunker in the bunker but beware of what’s going on around you. If that hair stands up on the back of your neck, pay attention, your subconscious mind is trying to tell you something.

Have a happy Sabbath.
